FREE One-Day Lead Awareness Training Seminar

The target audience for this training includes:
Prince George’s County homeowners, rental property owners, managers, maintenance personnel, child day-care providers, day care inspectors, public and private school’s maintenance employees and nurses, housing inspectors and public health professionals

The seminar topics will include:

  • the health effects of lead poisoning
  • sources of lead
  • the connections between lead and healthy homes
  • new laws and legal issues related to rental property owners
  • lead-safe work practices
  • the roles of the Prince George's County Health Department and the Maryland Department of the Environment regarding children exposed to lead

Scheduled speakers for this event will be representatives from local and state government, non-profit organizations and private industry.

The HIV testing is done one of two ways:

  • a cotton swab testing of the mouth (quick swab testing method) may be utilized which does not require the drawing of blood and provides results in 20-30 minutes on site.
  • The traditional blood test which provides results in approximately 2 weeks.

The Prince George’s County Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is offering a FREE, “Lead Awareness Training Seminar” on Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

30th Annual Great American Smokeout Day

Prince George’s County Health Department’s Tobacco Control Program invites you to participate in The Great American Smokeout which begins 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006 and ends 11:59 p.m. County resident smokers may participate by simply signing a pledge not to smoke for a 24-hour period.  The first 50 residents will receive a free T-shirt to commemorate the day.
