Gateway Arts and Entertainment District

Gateway Arts District Sector Plan | Gateway Community Development Corporation

Gateway Map

The Gateway Arts and Entertainment District encompasses the municipalities of
Mount Rainer, Brentwood, North Brentwood,
and Hyattsville along the Route One corridor.

The Gateway Arts and Entertainment District, which encompasses the municipalities of Mount Rainier, North Brentwood and Hyattsville along the Route One corridor, was planned to capitalize on the arts as a means of stimulating economic development. The Redevelopment Authority is partnering with the four municipalities and the Gateway Community Development Corporation to build artist housing and workspace, to attract retail and entertainment amenities to the district, and to provide the necessary public parking. The arts district is beginning to thrive with hundreds of artists already living and working in the area.
The RA partnered with Artspace Projects, Inc., a nationally known non-profit developer of artist live/work space, to build 44 units of artist live/work space and 10,000 square feet of related retail space in Mount Rainier.
