Child Care Assistance
The Department of Social Services helps parents pay for Child Care under the following circumstances:
- If you are a working parent or you are in school and earning within the income levels as set by the State of Maryland.
- If you are a parent who is receiving Temporary Cash Assistance and in an approved work activity.
- If you are a teen parent under 18 attending high school and your parents meet the State income requirements.
- If you are the child's legal guardian and your income falls within state guidelines.
The assistance provided comes in the form of a voucher. Vouchers are written agreements between the parent, the Provider of Child Care and the Purchase of Care Program (POC). The subsidy amount and the parent co-pay are stated on the voucher.
