Awards and Commendations

The Department of Corrections is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA) and the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards (MCCS). It received its third three-year ACA accreditation in January 2005. Its MCCS accreditation audit is scheduled for Spring 2005. Its medical unit, operated by Correctional Medical Services, is accredited through the American Correctional Association’s Adult Local Detention Facility Health Care audit and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.

Other Awards and Commendations

Officer of the Year: Sgt. Edward Hill, supervisor of the Transportation Unit, Special Operations Division. Award presented on April 28, 2005 at the Public Safety Valor Awards Luncheon.
