(UMUC) is home to one of Maryland's finest
art collections. Established in 1978, the
UMUC Arts Program is dedicated to collecting
and exhibiting artwork by Maryland artists.
The Maryland Artists Collection, a growing,
permanent collection, consists of more
than 300 works by Maryland painters, printmakers,
photographers, and sculptors. Artists represented
in the collection include Gladys Goldstein,
Herman Maril, Selma Oppenheimer, Karl Metzler,
Joseph Sheppard, Philip Koch, Barbara Cooper
Hansen, and Aaron Sopher. There is an impressive
collection of paintings in the center's
reception areas and ever-changing exhibits
