Prince George's County: Overview
The sky's the limit for unforgettable discoveries in Prince George's County. Along with historic landmarks, natural wonders and thrilling sports action, this land just east of Washington, D.C., offers several out-of-this-world attractions including Six Flags America, the National Wildlife Visitor Center, FedEx Field, the Sports & Learning Complex, the University of Maryland, NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center and much more.

Prince George's County, Maryland is located in the southern-central portion of Maryland with a land area of 485 square miles and 11 square miles of water. The population of Prince George's is 801,515 (2000 Census). Its residents live within a special mix of urban and suburban, city and country.

Location makes Prince George's County the next door neighbor to the political and social world of the federal government in our Nation's Capital, Washington, D.C. Prince George's borders 17 miles of the northeast, east and southeast boundaries of Washington, D.C. As a neighbor to Washington, D.C., it is part of the Metropolitan Area (which includes D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia). It is also part of Maryland's Capital Region (which includes Montgomery County and Frederick County). From its government base, Prince George's County is about 37 miles from downtown Baltimore and 30 miles from Annapolis.
