Prince George's County
A Sample Itinerary

From Baltimore to Belair…and everything in between!

Join us overnight...for a two-day treat!

Day ONE - Start the day in Baltimore, and enjoy some free time as you head for lunch in the Inner Harbor before heading for Prince George's County, Maryland for a guided tour of the Nasa/Goddard Space Flight Center. Goddard is the hub for our country's surveillance and tracking activities as well as the home to all Hubble Telescope repairs.

OR, choose to take a walk back in time and tour the home of America's first Thoroughbred race horses at Belair Mansion and Stable Museum. Built ca. 1745, Belair became the home of a number of noted American Thoroughbred racers, including Gallant Fox and Omaha, father/son winners of the Triple Crown.

Day TWO - Start the day with breakfast at your hotel, then "fly" over to the College Park Airport, the world's oldest continuously operating airport. Second only in importance to Kitty Hawk, Orville Wright trained the first Army officer how to fly here. There are many aviation "first" here. See how many you can uncover!

Highlighting you airport visit is the College Park Aviation Museum where you will experience a guided tour before "landing" at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant for lunch.

Following lunch, tour the National Wildlife Visitor Center, which includes interactive exhibits on wildlife and habitat research. The highlight of this visit is a collection of confiscated products made from illegally poached rare animals.

Choose a One-day itinerary for a mixture of history and flight!

In the morning take a tour of Montpelier Mansion, one of the finest examples of 18th century Georgian architecture in the state. Montpelier's construction began in 1774, after the marriage of Ann Ridgely and Major Thomas Snowden, each a member of prominent Maryland families. Notable figures such as George Washington and Abigail Adams visited the Snowden family here.

Next, tour the National Wildlife Visitor Center and view interactive exhibits or take a guided tram tour of the surrounding woods and lakes to learn about wildlife management, the importance of natural wetlands and view nature up close and personal.

Have lunch at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant located at College Park Airport, the world's continuously operating airport. Finish the tour at the College Park Aviation Museum and be greeting by an animatronic Wilbur Wright!

Your options are endless. With an array of wonderful sites and attractions, Prince George's county is the perfect destination or hub for you tour activities.
